The second of two design projects completed in my third and final year at Leeds Metropolitan University, Cinema in The Park provided a cultural centrepiece for Halifax, Yorkshire. The Cinema in The Park provides four cinema screens with varying occupancy and spatial conditions' one of which is protected and hidden within the centre of the building, in a park like setting. A unique cinema experience, the large screen is attached to the wall of the iconic Piece Hall, and a retractable roof protects the viewers below from the changeable Halifax weather.

The film school within the building also provides an opportunity for the local community and schools to increase their knowledge and skills in film, with equipment and staging to create their own film and exhibit it on 'The Big Screen'.

The building also provides meetings rooms, a restaurant and a shop, creating a new social and cultural hub within the city.
